Withdraws from concert due to illness

SAN FRANCISCO, CA-- The San Francisco Opera, just announced a cast and program update for their June 30 Eun Sun Kim Conducts Verdi Concert. Due to illness, tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz must withdraw from the concert. The tenor, who is currently performing in Europe, has developed a bilateral ear infection which, at this time, prevents him from international air travel. The concert original program has been updated due to this change.

The San Francisco Opera presents Eun Sun Kim Conducts Verdi Concert, a one night-only concert honoring the work of Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi (l813-l901) on Thursday June 30 at 7:30PM at the War Memorial Opera House will be as follows

On the night of June 30, Caroline H. Hume Music Director Eun Sun Kim will close her first season as leader of the Company's artistic forcer conducting the San Francisco Opera Orchestra, its Chorus and soloists Nicole Car, Etienne Dupis and Soloman Howard.

Nicole Car is an Australian Operatic soprano who has performed leading roles in the Royal Opera House, Vienna State Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Deutsche Opera Berlin, Semperopera Dresden, Opera National de Paris, the Australia Opera, The Dallas Opera and the Metropolitan Opera.

Etiene Dupois is one of the premier baritones in the opera world today. The Paris-based Baritone Dupuis. who is original from Montreal, is also a composer who assigned himself the challenge, on March 17, 2020, during the beginning of the lockdown of pandemic, to compose, playing the guitar, an original song every day for at least two weeks and perform each one online.

"The challenge wasn't simply to write the music or pen the lyrics," he told the S.F. Opera during an interview, "But also to confront that nagging voice every person has in the back of their head: The voice of doubt. Talk about a lifetime job for any human being: to learn to like yourself" He added with an easy laugh. "For artists, it's critical to al least respect how you do things. Otherwise, you're constantly judging yourself. And because you're also being constantly judged, (by the critics) then it piles on, and people go crazy --Almost literally."

Soloman Howard is A recent graduate of the Washington National Opera's Domingo-Cafritz, Young Artist Program (A program which provides intensive study with renowned vocal and dramatic coaches, language classes, career guidance and master classes with guest artist  in Washington. Bsdd Howard garnered high praise from the press for his vivid performances on the great opera and concert stage of the world.

Those attending the Eum Sun Kim Conducts Verdi Concert, will enjoy selections from Luise Miller IL Trovatore and Don Carlo, including the latter's dramatic auto-da-fe scene and rarely performed ballet music (from the original French Version. sang in the marvelous voices of three thrilling singers: soprano Nicole Car, Baritone Etienne Dupuis and Bass Soloman Howard.

Following the concert on June 30, to celebrate Eun Sun Kim's  inaugural year as music director, Kim and the cast will join the audience over drink and bites in the stunning Beaux Arts Green Room.
