WATSONVILLE, CA - The Watsonville Film Festival, the non-profit art organization that highlights LATINX (Hispanic/Latinos) filmmakers' movies emphasizing their humanity. their character and their achievements, recognizing Film as the agency necessary to represent to the public a positive image of the LATINX, who for the last 10 years, in 4.5% of the movies have been portrayed as negative stereotypes, today announced to the press that their 11th annual In-person events Film festival will have its opening night on Friday, March 3, at the Mello Center for the Performing Arts, 250 E. Beach St. in Watsonville. CA.

OPENING NIGHT will honor Actor Pepe Serna (in person) and show two of his films: Life is Art & Abuelo. Doors will open at 6:30PM

SATURDAY, MARCH 4
NIGHT FILMS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY: Under the Same Moon (Bajo la misma Luna) Escritora del guion (Screenwriter) Ligia Villalobos (in person) and PVUSO Superintendent Dr. Michelle Rodriguez. Doors open at 12:30
SHORTS SHIFTING THE PARADIGM   
Premiere of Eternidad & Influence Plus Bad Hombrewood, Here to Stay, Farm to School. Filmmakers in attendance. Introducing 2023 Cine Se Puede Fellows. Door opens at 3:30 PM
SHORTS: ARTE Y CULTURA
PREMIERE: HISTORIAS DE CULTURA (Oaxaca en Santa Cruz) and Strawberry Picker. Filmmakers and Artist Juan JFuentes in Person. Doors Open 6:30 PM.

SUNDAY, MARCH 5
Art Opening; Resilience: Works of Strength and Dignity. Juan Fuentes retrospective. RECEPTION and Mural walk with Artist Juan Fuentes & Kathlee Crocetti.  Door opens at 1:30PM

Women's International Day
Matronas: The Struggle to Protect Birth in El Salvador.  Filmmakers in attendance Co-Presented by Campesina Womb Justice. Program starts at 6PM.

THURSDAY, MARCH 9
GOLDEN ERA OF MEXICAN CINEMA
"El Rey del Barrio" with comic German Valdez  "TINTAN." Co presented with the Mexican Consulate in San José, Ca.  Program starts at 6PM.

FRIDAY, MARCH 10
SHORTS: Perseverance
Elefan, Colors in Harmony, US vs Beltran, Fertile Land, Chicago Story: Resettlement. Film makers in attendance. Co presented by Reel Work Labor Film Festival. Program starts at 6PM

SATURDAY, MARCH 11
REGIONAL PREMIERE: SANSOM & ME Director Rodrigo Reyes, in person. Co-presented by Reel Work Labor Film Festival. Film starts at 1PM.
"JAZZ ON FILM: Santos Skin to Skin" With filmmakers Kathryn Golden & Ashley James. Co-presented by UCSC and Mexican Consulate. Film starts at 4PM.
"LOS TIGRES DEL NORTE: Historias que Contar"  Director Carlos Perez Osorio in person. Co-Produced by UCSC & the Mexican Consulate. Film starts at 7 PM.

SUNDAY, MARCH 12
SHORTS: El Poder del Arte
"Strawberry Picker" and "To Mend a Heart."  (Renovar el Corazón)  Filmmaker in attendance. T Films and a Reception from 6PM to 8PM.
